Flicker's drum

DK DydeeKnitsComment

Tat-tat.....tat-tat-tat...tat-tat-tat-tat.   Do you hear that?  That's Flicker building a nest in a tree over in the wildlife habitat.  Old Growth says that Flicker eats ants and beetles and uses its beak to make to the tat-tat-tat-tat drum sound on dead trees or snag trees.   Flicker is a woodpecker and lives year-round in our forest,  so we hear and see Flicker often in the forest, up in the trees or foraging on the ground for bugs to eat.  Flicker is a brownish-grey colour, with a white patch on the back and black spots on its body and wings, with a tinge of reddish-yellow.

Listen carefully ......... and you will hear Flicker's drum.  Tat-tat......Tat-tat-tat....Tat-tat-tat-tat-tat.
